Mamu Tropical Skywalk.

Sat, 04. Aug. 2018
8:47

Location

Mamu Tropical Skywalk, Palmerston Hwy, Innisfail QLD 4860, Australia

Info

This is acanopy walk. Opens at 9:30am ,but no info on opening times on brochures etc. 👎👎👎 Will wait the 45 minutes. I am sure it will be worth it. Well, it has an audio device to carry while you walk through the tracks and walkways. Cool and very shaded as you would expect. Lots of green vegitation and trees forming the tropical forest. You can hear birds calling from the high and low trees. Didn't see any unless you count the Bush chicken. We were first in so ahead of the people arriving. The walk gave a fantastic view of the area and the tower more so. very spectacular view.

Crawford's Lookout.

Location

Crawford's Lookout, Palmerston Hwy, Wooroonooran QLD 4860, Australia

Info

There was a view through the rainforrest to the Johnson River below. Decided to walk down to the lookout. It was long walk down through a series of zig zag and a hard walk back. 150 meters descent in 1.7 kms and then ascent of course. I wanted to go the extra 750 meters to the river below but it was a much steeper descent and I got out voted. 😖😖😖 Probably a good thing after the ascent back to the car. ðŸĪŠðŸĪŠðŸĪŠ

Nandroya Waterfall.

Location

Nandroya Falls, Wooroonooran QLD 4860, Australia

Info

We were told by more than one person that this was the best of the waterfalls. It was a decent walk. We past a water fall called Silver Falls and at the end of 2.2 kms was a wonderful waterfall. You could swim under the waterfall in its pool or in a second pool on the next level. Of course, our kids went in for a swim. It was not as cold as the gorges so I was not really surprised.

Tarzali Lakes Platypus Viewing.

Sat, 04. Aug. 2018
15:06

Location

The Australian Platypus Park, 912 Malanda Millaa Millaa Rd, Minbun QLD 4885, Australia

Info

Well here we go. This unassuming place to view Platypus is quite worth the visit. The Platypus are in a pond area fed by underground spring and the flows out the other as a stream. For what ever reason there is estimated to be about 15+ Platypus in the pond and they have been there at least 20 years. They are used to people voices so normal talking is ok. The young guy who does the tour was very knowledgable. Th hey also have a policy of paying after the viewing. If you don't see any Platypus there is no charge. Also some turtles on the opposite side on a log.

Cathedral Fig Tree.

Location

Cathedral Fig Tree, Danbulla Rd, Danbulla QLD 4872, Australia

Info

It is funny how things work out. The Curtain Fig Tree road was closed due to a cycling event in the area. We decided to see if we could make the Cathederal Fig Tree before it go to dark. We were the only ones there, which was good. The light was getting low, but WOW it was definitely worth the punt. I am not sure if the photos do justice, but check them out and you will see what we mean.

Mobo Creek Crater.

Sat, 04. Aug. 2018
17:35

Location

Mobo Creek Crater Walk, Danbulla QLD 4872, Australia

Info

This was just down the road from the Cathedral Fig Tree so we though we would give it a look. Almost in the dark and not really craters. Interesting and surreal walking through the forest in almost darkness. Got some photos and back in the car with another 650 meters walk. Heading for home for the night. Foot note after arriving back at the caravan park: Most of the roads are 100 kph around here and very hilly and windy. The locals seem to have no problem with doing the 100 kph limit. In WA I am positive the speeds would be 90 kph or even 80 kph on similar roads.
