DAY 29: Not really on the river. Going to spend one night free camp and the spend a night in a caravan park after the stage coach ride. Understand the ride is very dusty. Found a spot away from the river where there is a double line of campers. Amongst some trees with a bit of shade. Feels better than a car park! 😊😊😊 Feeding the feral and off to look at Longreach, 5kms into town. Had to check out an emu on the way out. Apparently emus and ostriches have the same pelvis as theropods (dinosaurs) and a result have great difficulty doing a turn. They have to do sort of two steps the one to the side step then prop and turn. Explains why emus look so daff when turning. "I digress!!". 🙄🙄🙄 LATE ENTRY: About 10kms out of Longreach we witnessed a White-Bellied Sea Eagle take off from the meal it was having on the side of the road. Had no idea what it was as it was a bird the size of a large Wedge-tail Eagle. So off to Google for a search as you do these days. 🌏🌏🌏

A not for profit tourist attraction for Longreach on the history of QANTAS. There is so much information here that we could not see everything before the tour which was for 90 minutes. My take on it, is if it was not for WWII QANTAS may never have begun has it it if at all. It must have been an exciting era for the people involved in the aviation Industry. Only took a few photos. It would have been easy to take so many more. Hopefully the Nikon photos get added soon.

Having a fire tonight while free camping. Free camping is so much nicer than a crowded caravan park. A nice night, again not much breeze and what is, is going the right way for the fire. 🔥🔥🔥 Star out but not a good as the middle of Oz. 😏😏😏 Took a walk by the river before dinner. Pleasant by the river. Lots of caravans here. Most all are parked on the flat area with no trees.

Outback Pioneer Stagecoach Ride.

Early up and off the Lonreach for a Stage Coach ride and a Smoko, an Old Time Movie Show and then a tent show. Aidyn put his hand up for the seat at the back. Apparently that is the first class seating that doctors & lawyers pay for. Beats me why. We were covered in dust from the chest down. Holding on was not so easy. Really nice scones and tea or coffee. The movie was an Australian movie as you might expect called "Smiley Gets A Gun". The were so may young Australian actors in it. That was entertaining in itself. We hadn't seen it before. It was really good and the kids really enjoyed it.

Outback Tent Show.

This show went for just over an hour instead of the 45 minutes expected. It was the most entertaining show I have see for a long while. The script seemed to be an original and was full of adlibs and mistakes as well as lines mucked up which added to the humour. The two guy doing it were masterful at the cover ups. They also interspersed the show with digs at Tasmanians, Kiwis, poms and the odd political joke. Some of the show went wrong with the animals. It was hilarious. The whole package was well worth it and the best value for money so far. We recommend to anyone travelling through Longreach that they take up the package.

We were right in thinking we would need a good shower after the Outback Pioneer Stagecoach Ride. The sites we are on is a drive through, no reversing required. Sites are close together, but has some shady trees.

Well we have picked on making dinner tonight and thought we would spend some more money. After a tiring Stagecoach Trip in Longreach you do need some R&R. So far we are impressed with the venue and the greeting from the staff. Good show. It was always going to hard to beat the Outback Pioneer Tent Show from today but is was still a good show. It had some great whip cracking and good humour. The food was very good. I was hungry but I wish I was hungrier. I would have like to try more of the food.
